CO2 Fire Extinguishing Systems – Carbon Dioxide for standardized Object Protection

Carbon dioxide (chemical formula CO2) is a versatile industrial material, used, for example, as an inert gas in welding and fire extinguishers. It is colorless and in low concentrations the gas is odorless however, at sufficiently-high concentrations, it has a sharp, acidic odor. Amongst inert gas extinguishing systems, CO2 extinguishing systems have the greatest acceptance worldwide. The particular advantage of the extinguishing agent is that a room “inerted” in the event of a fire only has to be aired properly after successful extinguishing. CO2 is inexpensive, reliable, electrically non-conductive and is completely without residue – from a single rack to complex spatial solutions. There is still no alternative to CO2 extinguishing systems for protecting mills and hardening basins.

WATER EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS

Water-based fire extinguishing systems
make up the largest share of the
extinguishing technology – in case of
sprinkler systems a simple and reliable
technology for decades.

GAS EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS

The extinguishing effect of inert gases is
achieved by displacing the oxygen in the air.
Assets are protected by the slow response
that is typical of the inert gases CO2,
nitrogen and argon.

CO2 Extinguishing Systems with SIL 2 Certificate

G&S has used the international SIL 2 certification since 2011 and all of the tried and tested G&S CO2 extinguishing systems therefore meet the special safety requirements in power plant operation and in process engineering. The extinguishing systems are certified for risk classes up to SIL 2 and fit as an integral component in the security concepts of entire systems. The corresponding systems have been developed and installed for clients worldwide.
